Carpinteria Pipeline System De-Inventory and Abandonment Project

Beacon West operations and engineering personnel successfully flushed crude oil from a segment of the Carpinteria Pipeline System, beginning at the Carpinteria Oil & Gas Plant to the Pacific Offshore Operators Pipeline tie-in location at La Conchita. Using a tank within the Plant, fresh water with corrosion inhibitor along with primary and secondary pigs were used to displace crude oil from the 10” pipeline. Beacon West secured the necessary approvals, prepared detailed work procedures, calculated volumes and equipment needs, and safely managed the project in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Final pipeline abandonment is scheduled to occur in early 2023.
