Platform Holly Clear Deck Project

Beacon West completed an extensive deconstruction project for ExxonMobil as agreed by the CSLC, by successfully removing large volumes of out-of-service gas processing equipment from Platform Holly in order to make space for essential equipment to support well plugging & abandonment (P&A) operations. At the completion of this project, the entire eastern side of the top deck was cleared of all obstructions allowing for P&A activities to commence in an efficient manner. The project was completed safely, ahead of schedule and within budget.

Beacon West developed a comprehensive Feasibility Study including cost estimates with alternatives to best implement the clear deck program elements safely, efficiently, and economically. This feasibility effort focused on ensuring safe simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) of deconstruction and rig reactivation activities while minimizing impacts to ongoing Beacon West operations & maintenance activities. The feasibility study explored several options such as barge cranes vs. platform crane deconstruction and repurposing the former heliport to convert to a crane maintenance platform to improve well operational efficiency. This work required consideration of numerous constraints, including deconstruction sequencing, Persons on Board (POB) limitations, critical lifts, electrical isolation, vessel and pipeline flushing, purging and management of hazardous materials; all while maintaining the platform in fully operational status and supporting the ongoing reconstruction on the rig.

Beacon West provided the engineering, construction management and logistical support including the necessary marine vessels for transporting to shore excess equipment removed and other logistical material required to complete this fast-paced project including offloading at a shore base location, landside transportation, and final disposal of the removed materials.
